TREO Forum – Submissions and Guidelines

Call for Submissions

Technology Research, Education, and Opinion (TREO) is an inclusive melting pot for innovative ideas, bringing together new and established members of the community. The TREO Forum provides attendees with a platform to discuss, receive feedback, and advance their emerging ideas. To facilitate this, submissions are short, comprising a three-page extended abstract, and review cycles are rapid and inclusive.

The workshop invites submissions to four different tracks:

  • Innovative and emerging ideas: Do you have an emerging idea or a creative research problem that you want to develop further? Then this is the track for you.
  • Inspiring opinions: Do you want to challenge the dominant views and are prepared to argue your opinion statement? Then this track may be your chance.
  • Educational disruptions: Do you have disruptive ideas or innovations for challenging existing approaches to education? We look forward to your submission to this track.
  • Newcomers’ Incubator: Do you have a research idea but have a hard time turning it into a publishable paper? This track welcomes newcomers and offers assistance for the next steps.

Important Dates

  • TREO Submission Deadline: March 25, 2026
  • TREO Acceptance Notification: April 8, 2026
  • Extended abstract for the roundtable session (optional): 28 May 2026

Submission Procedures

The TREO Forum papers should be framed as extended abstracts. TREO papers must not exceed three (3) single-spaced pages and must conform to the ECIS paper submission template . The page limit is all-inclusive and includes the title, body of the paper, figures, tables, references, and appendices. Submissions that exceed this limit will be automatically rejected.

TREO papers must use the ECIS 2026 template. All submissions must be submitted through the PCS submission system.

Authors interested in participating in the research development roundtables must indicate this on the PCS paper submission form.

Attendees of the TREO Forum must be registered for the main ECIS conference. There will be no additional fee for attending the TREO Forum.

TREO Forum Structure

Poster Presentations: Authors of submissions accepted to the TREO Forum will present a poster during the event.

Roundtables: To further support research development, the TREO Forum will offer optional roundtable sessions dedicated to the in‑depth discussion of extended abstracts. Authors wishing to participate must indicate their interest at the time of submission. Priority for participation will be granted to authors with accepted submissions in the Newcomers’ Incubator track, while additional places will be allocated to interested participants from the remaining tracks.
